ENGINEERING BEHIND 3D PRINTING

It has been couple of years the curiosity and eager behind the mechanism for 3D printing considerably rose. The working and principle involved with a 3D printing is not very complex or hectic.

There two most commonly used plastic preferred by 3D printing owner, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and polyactic acid (PLA). While some of the modern printers requires only one of the kind.

These plastic are available in the form of filaments with standard width that is about 1.75 mm. ABS is most commonly used for making legos is a chemical compound based plastic that is operated at relatively higher temperature. While PLA is extracted from natural resources like sugarcane and corn it has a much glossy texture with high rigidity than ABS. Besides being as a key component in 3D printing it is also used to manufacture compostable packaging.

Filament of plastic is attached to 3D printer could be highly costly. As 3D printing is getting more popular and people are inclination more and more towards it the prices are getting reduced accordingly.  A clever way to reduce the cost is to adopt the usage of a filament extruder. A filament is inserted in a 3D printer’s printing head just like a cartridge.
